Frequently Asked Questions
What is your process for ordering a barn door?
We typically start with a simple phone conversation to determine the approximate size, style and finish of your barn door.
During the phone call we will provide budgetary pricing, If the cost is within budget we set an appointment to come to your home to get detailed measurements, review the construction and finish of your barn door.
We then provide a formal proposal which includes a drawing of your specific barn door.
What Makes your doors different?
First, they are 100% custom and hand crafted to perfectly fit your door opening.
We do NOT use plywood to build our doors. We use traditional mortise & tenon and tongue & groove joinery with solid wood. The result is a beautiful barn door where the design is naturally duplicated on both sides of the door.
We use Benjamin Moore Command (for painted doors) and Rubio Monocoat 2C for stained doors. The paint is a low VOC water based acrylic urethane and the stain is a ZERO VOC plant oil based hard wax.
what is your installation process?
We start the process by identifying the exact height of the track system and then laser level to determine if there are any floor rises for a smooth glide.
We then identify the stud locations and affix a header board to the wall using the studs for a secure mounting surface.
The track is next and it’s leveled and secured to the header board with lag bolts
Floor guide is added and the barn door stops and soft-close mechanism (optional) are attached to the track.
Install clean-up and a thorough review of the sliding door system wrap up the install!
